Birth with more confidence and less fear
Hypnobirthing is a comprehensive birth preparation that helps you feel calm, confident, and informed as you approach birth. At its heart, it’s about understanding how birth works and learning how to release fear so your body can do what it’s designed to do.
Through clear, in-depth education about labour and birth, alongside practical tools such as supportive language, breathing techniques, and guided visualisations, hypnobirthing helps you work with your body rather than against it. Partners play an active role, learning how to provide meaningful support and create a sense of safety throughout labour.
Hypnobirthing doesn’t promise a specific type of birth — birth is unpredictable, and that’s okay. What it can offer is a calmer mindset, greater confidence, and tools that many people find reduce the need for medical pain relief and contribute to more positive birth experiences.
I’ve supported couples using hypnobirthing in all settings — at home, in birth centres, and in hospital — and I tailor each course to your plans, preferences, and circumstances.
Many of the women and couples I work with are planning a vaginal birth at home or in a midwifery-led unit. That said, hypnobirthing can be hugely beneficial wherever and however you give birth.
If you’re planning a hospital birth or an obstetric unit birth, hypnobirthing tools can help you stay grounded, informed, and confident in your decisions. And if things take an unexpected turn — such as an instrumental or caesarean birth — you’ll have practical techniques and emotional reserves to help you adapt and feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
Hypnobirthing is not about having a “perfect” birth. It’s about feeling prepared, connected, and empowered no matter how your birth unfolds.
Most antenatal classes cover a wide range of topics in a short amount of time. While they’re helpful, they often don’t allow space to fully understand the physiology of birth or to practise techniques enough for them to feel natural when labour begins.
Hypnobirthing focuses on building a strong mind-body connection through a deeper understanding of birth and regular practices focused on relaxation — supporting the parasympathetic nervous system, which plays a vital role in labour and birth.
Because this preparation is tailored specifically to you as a couple, it can be more personal, practical, and effective alongside (or instead of) a general antenatal course.
I offer an 8-hour hypnobirthing course, usually held over four evening or weekend sessions.
While this may sound like a significant time commitment, hypnobirthing truly rewards what you put into it. We cover essential birth information and spend time practising the tools so you both feel confident using them when it matters most.
