How can yoga support midwives?
Yoga supports physical, mental and emotional balance. These benefits are so vital in a work environment that is often demanding and stressful, and where the emotional load of our profession is easily overlooked.
Yoga can also create community, enabling a compassionate space for midwives to share their experiences and find solidarity. I've been lucky to share yoga with midwives and midwifery students, focusing on restorative practices that can be easily learnt and embedded in daily routines.
Yoga is a huge support on my own midwifery journey and I have been honoured to learn from some wonderful yoga teachers, including Tanya Kaps and Uma Dinsmore-Tuli. They continue to inspire me in my own regular practice and my desire to keep sharing the light of yoga.
